Nervous but Excited

Hi, Everyone!

Although it’s only been a week and a half since I’ve been back to school, I’ve been busy as ever. I moved in on the 3rd for field hockey preseason. I’m on the varsity field hockey team, whom calls themselves “Moxie” (yes, like the soda). New students moved in on the 4th, returning on the 5th and then on the 6th, classes resumed.

The field hockey team started up the season quickly after preseason, having a jamboree on the first Saturday against Brooks and Nobles. I have already been very busy with school work, and I’m definitely pretty stressed out about Upper year. Although my check-in time is now 9pm, I have actually checked in even earlier than when I was a lower (my check-in time was 8pm then). I’ve been trying to get into the dorm early (like around 7pm or later) to really settle down and focus on my school work. I was really nervous for all of my classes, but so far they’ve been great. I’m actually really looking forward to this term.

For courses, I’m taking Math 330, Chinese 450, English 310, US History 331, and Bio 371 (also known as Genetics). My first math test is Friday, and I’m anxious to see how I will do, because I skipped a term of math over the summer. I’m really worried I didn’t comprehend the material enough over the summer. However, I met with my math teacher today to go over some confusions and I think I will be okay. My math teacher is really great and I’m learning so much from her. Definitely my best math teacher yet.

My classes have been demanding, but I really love all of my teachers this term, and the people in my classes. I’m also so excited to take Genetics, so homework hasn’t been such a chore to take care of. The stress of Upper is also definitely motivating my determination for a better GPA as well.

Club night is coming up, so I’m also trying to figure out what clubs to do. I’m in Exeter Poms, which is a dance group, I’m a tour guide (I signed up for two tours this week, maybe I’ll meet some of you prospective students reading this post!), I am teaching piano to a little kid, but I’ll keep you posted on the others I decide to participate in.

So far, school has been great. Although it seems like I’ve been here forever and it’s only been a week. Academy Life Day (A day where the dorms get to do dorm bonding activities and we don’t have class!) is this coming Monday, so I’m really looking forward to that. Don’t worry, I’ll tell you all about it next week. I hope school has been great for the rest of you!
