Marie Leighton

Screen Shot 2016-09-04 at 11.26.24 PMHello! My name is Marie Leighton and I am a member of Exeter’s Class of 2018. It is my third year at PEA and while I am far from my home in North Carolina, my wonderful dorm of Hoyt Hall has become my second home. I enjoy spending time with my classmates and friends in clubs such as Model UN, Business Club, and ESSO American Sign Language, and with my teammates on the rowing team.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at mlmccall@exeter.edu

Being at Exeter is a truly unique experience, and it is one of which I am very grateful to be a part.

Bridgette

image1Hello! My name is Bridgette and I am currently a lower (tenth grader) in Amen Hall. I am from Palo Alto, CA and have been a student at Phillips Exeter for two years already! During the fall, I play as a libero on the school’s varsity volleyball team, where we won our second back-to-back championship in November 2015! In the winter and spring seasons, I run for the school’s indoor and outdoor track team. For fun, I enjoy spending time on the quad playing soccer and lying on the grass in the sun. My favorite school event has to be our annual Fall E/a Pep Rally, where all the teams perform dances, skits, and speeches to hype up the games against Andover. Our school dance groups perform between each team’s appearance, and a bonfire is lit while cheers are chanted. It’s an amazing, school-spirit filled event!

As a new student, I definitely made my first group of friends from my dorm, teammates, and club members. Service clubs, known as ESSO (Exeter Social Service Organization) clubs, are my favorite way to spend my free time in the community. Currently, I am the cohead of the Salvation Army club, where we volunteer, once a month, at the Portsmouth Salvation Army Center to cook meals for the community. Other activities I also participate in are: Democratic Club, Orchestra, and Student Council.
There is so much to do at Exeter, and I especially treasure my time with friends and other students here.

Hi! I’m Meredith, but I go by Emmy. I’m a prep (9th grader) from Durham New Hampshire, so I’m a day student. I try to involve myself with lots of musical stuff, and this year I’m a part of in essence, an a cappella group of a bunch of great girls. I also teach piano and voice to younger kids (as part of an esso club) and play the Oboe. This spring I decided to try cycling, which has been really fun! My favorite class is  probably German, because I’m just so excited to be learning another language. One of my favorite things about Exeter is the amazing language program!

Serena

Hey Guys! My name is Serena and I am an upper in Langdell Hall! I was born in Seoul, Korea but my family moved to Weston, MA a few years ago. My favorite thing about Exeter is the opportunities it offers for you to be your best self. Not only are you encouraged to take your previous commitments and passions to another level, Exeter also helps you step out of your comfort zone by exploring something new! One way Exeter does this is by offering fun, challenging classes in diverse topics. Some of the most interesting classes I’ve taken are Art and the State, Advanced Physics, and Faith and Doubt. Outside of classes, I’m involved in a lot of clubs and activities. I’m on the girls varsity squash team in winter term. I love everyone on my team and this past season has really helped me to get better as an athlete and also as a teammate! I also really love going to Current Events and International Relations club, Model UN, ESSO, the Council for Equity and Social Justice, and Philosophy club! My last two years at Exeter has been amazing and I’m looking to make the best out of my last two years, too!

Hometown: Weston, MA

Ori

Screen Shot 2016-03-02 at 8.45.54 PMHeyo! I’m Ori. I’m from great Dallas, TX. I play Ultimate, JV Basketball, and JV Soccer. I’m head of the short film club and a Production Director of the radio station here, WPEA. I live in Knight House with the greatest guys on campus.  My favorite class is Japanese, the language is really すごい (awesome). In my spare time I’m either filming one of my movies or practicing soccer. My favorite events on campus are the WPEA Winter Formal, it was a huge hit this year and I can’t wait to host it again next year, and of course E/a. Peace, love, and happiness!

Conor

Screen Shot 2016-03-02 at 8.49.24 PMHey! I’m Conor and I’m a new lower or 10th grader from Phoenix, Arizona. I live in Soule Hall with a close knit group of guys on the north side of campus. As a new student, I’ve become a member of the wrestling and lacrosse teams, as well as clubs such as ESSO Microfinance, Student Council, and ESSO Beach Cleanup.
My favorite part about Exeter is the Harkness Method, where students get to contribute to free-flowing discussions around Harkness tables in every classroom. I especially enjoy participating in English classes on campus, where I have the opportunity to hear from interesting points of view on literature other than my own.
In my free time, I like to socialize with friends and take frequent trips to restaurants in town.

Daisy

IMG_7064Hi! My name is Daisy and I am a lower, or sophomore, at Exeter. This is my first year here and I live in Langdell Hall. Off campus, I live in Glencoe, IL, which is near Chicago. I participate in the school’s theatre program, as well as DRAMAT, Exeter’s theatre club. I am also in an a cappella group with an amazing group of girls. This year, I was on Exeter’s Mock Trial team, which is number one in New Hampshire! Additionally, I love writing for the school’s newspaper, The Exonian.

Hi! I’m Ingrid and I’m a lower or tenth grader here at PEA. I’m a day student from Exeter, meaning I live at home and drive to school. I take Latin and I’m very interested in taking Greek later on in my Exeter career. My favorite subjects are English and History. I play on our school’s JV softball team in the spring. I’m also involved in the Exeter Feminist Union, three ESSO (Exeter Student Service Organization) clubs, Preschool Gym Class, Fourth grade Pen Pals, and Reading Buddies. My favorite event here at Exeter has to be our Exeter/Andover games that happen in the fall. We have a pep rally with a huge bonfire and everyone dresses up in red to support our sports teams!

Lauren

Lauren - pictureHey everyone! My name is Lauren  and I am an Upper (11th grader) from Natchitoches, Louisiana. I live on the second floor of Hoyt Hall, a dorm with the most wonderful group of girls on campus. I am a member of the Varsity Softball team where I am the catcher. I go to a bunch of different club meetings on campus, but two of my favorites are PenPals, where you write letters to local grammar school children, and Microfinance, where you make micro loans to small businesses in third world countries. On the weekends, I usually find myself down at Me and Ollies, a bakery/cafe in town, with a few friends eating their amazing muffins and working on homework. On Saturdays, I love to go to all the sports games and support Big Red! My favorite events of the year are always the Exeter/Andover games, but I also had the greatest time at the Winter Formal! The live band was awesome! I think Exeter is an incredible place and I am so lucky to be here!

Andrew

Andrew's PictureHey guys! My name is Andrew, and I’m a new lower (10th grade) this year in Soule Hall! I’m Korean-American, born in NYC and raised in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. This year, I was introduced to crew and squash for the first time; this spring, I’ll be playing tennis. My favorite classes here have been Latin and chemistry. And after the school day ends, I try to take part in as many clubs as possible, such as Student Council, Mock Trial, and ESSO Middle School Mentors.

Alexander

12642952_543643042465828_1639907457200774314_nHey! My name is Alex and I’m a new 10th grader in Soule Hall (the best dorm). During Fall term, I play soccer and I’m doing track this Spring.  I grew up in London, but I’ve also studied in Switzerland and Spain. During my free time, I tend to spend time on Facebook and hang out with friends.

Despite studying in various countries, the type of community and experience that Exeter fosters is unparallelled.
